Behind Every Cage: Manyakfunks x 'Part of Me (Interlude)'

Some photographers shoot the figure. Manyakfunks builds the prison — then locks the viewer inside it.

The night before NYCC opened its doors, with the family already on the ground in New York, ETS booth crew member @manyakfunks dropped a five-slide horror carousel that reads like a trailer for a movie that doesn't exist yet. Two figures. One cage. Lighting that shifts yellow to green to red like a warning system. And underneath it all, an Epic Toy Sound track with a Darc Reign feature — the same Darc Reign who owned yesterday's spotlight.

The post: "Behind every cage is a hunger waiting to be fed."

Posted October 7 at 7:46 PM ET — hours before Day 1 of NYCC — the carousel is pure Manyakfunks horror craft. The caption is one line, and it does all the work: "Behind every cage is a hunger waiting to be fed." Credits underneath are clean — camera @manyakfunks, bone figure @mr.bone_toys.

Slide by slide, the details stack up. The main figure wears an orange helmet over a metallic skull mask, staring through the bars. A smaller orange fish-like companion hovers beside him. A miniature meal tray sits on the cage floor — because the hunger is the whole point. And one slide hides the best prop of the set: a green cup holding a pink brain, labeled "B5160-." This is the kind of staging that separates a photo from a scene — every object in the cage is earning its place.

The lighting does the heavy lifting. Yellow for the wide shot, green for the close-ups, red for the money slide. Three color temperatures, five frames, one mood: you're not supposed to feel comfortable in here.

The track: "Part of Me (Interlude) (feat. Darc Reign)"

The music credit on the post is the tell: "Part of Me (Interlude) (feat. Darc Reign)" by Epic Toy Sound. Not a trending sound. Not a library loop. An ETS original — produced by @myboyronnied of @zillioninstrumentals — from the Phrequency EP (out September 9, 2026; UPC 700971895871; ISRC QT9XF2614309).

Phrequency is the eternal-truths tape: "Law of Vibration," "Part of Me," "Root and the Fruit," "Spirit's Door," "Wheel of Fortune" — reflection and powerful principles with genre-fused beats, made for creators working in a state of flow. An interlude about a part of yourself, scored to a cage you can't leave: the pairing is not an accident.

And the feature matters. Darc Reign — yesterday's spotlight, today's guest verse — links the last two spotlights into a thread. Two days, two photographers, one shared sonic world. That's the machine working the way it's supposed to.

Listen: Phrequency on Spotify — "Part of Me (Interlude)" is track two.

Photographer spotlight: Manyakfunks

If you're new to the family, here's the file on @manyakfunks: horror toy photographer, COVID-era mystery-box recipient from the foundation years, and ETS family through and through. His "Haunt Your Reels: Monster Within" 8-track horror soundscape pack is in the shop for spooky season, his Oct 5 horror spotlight opened the Halloween run, and his Oct 7 work also landed in the Day 8 Morning Report.

Right now he's not just posting — he's on the booth crew. NYCC 2026, Booth 1771, hosted by Tenacious Toys, October 8–11. The man lighting cages at 7:46 PM is selling grails by morning. That's the job.

The arc, stated plainly

Two things we're saying openly instead of guessing: this carousel is not cover art for a release — yet — and "Part of Me (Interlude)" is already out on Phrequency, so this isn't an exclusive release either. The arc here is post → community momentum: a horror-season post running on ETS audio, tagged to @epictoysound, @zillioninstrumentals, and @zillionmarketplace, dropped the night before the biggest week of the year. Posts like this one are exactly what become cover art. Watch this space.

The takeaway for the community

The lesson in the cage isn't "shoot horror." It's light the feeling, not the figure. Manyakfunks didn't just photograph two toys behind bars — he built hunger out of color temperature, a meal tray, and a brain in a cup, then scored it with a track about the part of you that never gets fed. If you shoot, ask what your scene is hungry for. Then feed it the right sound.

Every track here is produced by @myboyronnied of @zillioninstrumentals — original music for the toy photography community, made to be used.

See it in person: NYCC Day 1 is live — find the family at toysandbeats.com and Booth 1771, October 8–11. Manyakfunks is on the crew. Come say hi. Bring your grails.
