Skeletor x 'Power of the Synth': KIDULT's Dark-Magic Diorama

Skeletor opens the spellbook. Stevan Nikolic (@kidult_1983) turns a gifted Masters of the Universe figure into a three-frame dark-magic ritual — scored, like everything in this family, with Epic Toy Sound.

The Story Behind the Shot

The best toy photography starts with a story, and this one starts with a gift. @kidult_1983 — Stevan Nikolic — was handed one of the coolest Skeletor releases in his collection by @raoof7136, and his response was pure KIDULT: build the dungeon, light the candles (metaphorically), and stage a ritual.

Posted October 9 as a three-frame carousel on Instagram (view the original post), the sequence is a study in restraint: Skeletor, blue-skinned and skull-faced in his signature purple hood and armor, seated at a table with an open black book — facing down a second, darker hooded figure across from him. Stone walls. Glowing window light. A warm, atmospheric gloom that makes the whole thing feel like a page from a forbidden grimoire. The camera shifts only slightly between frames — angle, focus, depth of field — like panels of the same spell cast three times.

His caption says it in three words: Mastering dark magic. Then the thanks, then the tags — #skeletor, #motu, #masteroftheuniverse, #eternianepicimagery — and the line that matters here: Music by @epictoysound.

The Track: "Power of the Synth"

The audio under the ritual is "Power of the Synth" by Epic Toy Sound — a synth-pop retro soundtrack built for creators shooting neon-soaked, retro-world toy photography. It fits KIDULT's lane like a key in a dungeon door: this is a photographer whose whole corner of the catalog lives in the 80s.

The track is a released catalog single — out July 14, 2026 via DistroKid (ISRC QT6F62607141), registered with TuneRegistry — and it's sitting in the store right now as a digital download for $2.99, tagged for exactly this: kidult, synthwave, retro toy photography. If your shoots live in the retro lane, this is the lane's anthem.

The Arc: Post Stands on Its Own

Not every spotlight traces a post-to-cover-to-release arc — and this one doesn't. The October batch's "KIDULT MOTU" cover is a different image (She-Ra and Battle Cat, finalized October 1), and "Power of the Synth" released back in July. KIDULT's Masters of the Universe work has made the cover wall before; this Skeletor frame is a pure community post — shot for the love of the figure, scored with the family's music, shared the way the family shares everything.

Photographer Spotlight: @kidult_1983

Stevan Nikolic is the ETS family's retro specialist. His bio says it plain: toy photography and diorama builds, BTS and tutorials, Creative Partner @EpicToySound. His lane is the 80s cartoons and the toys that raised a generation — Masters of the Universe, the monsters that kept you up at night — and he builds his worlds by hand: dioramas assembled piece by piece, props 3D-printed, behind-the-scenes posted right alongside the finished frames.

He's the guy who shows up. Five days before this Skeletor post, his "Out of the Fog" carousel spotlit 27 community photographers in one go — zero ego, all family. In the Epic Toy Sound sonic taxonomy, his slot is Cartoon, and he wears it like the purple hood.

Why This Post Was Picked

Spooky-season timing. The only roster post in the last 48 hours scored with an Epic Toy Sound track. And Skeletor season is officially open — Gabriel Balda's 1/1 Skeletor Jimmy Short went live October 9. Post, track, photographer: the whole triangle, no stretching.

Yesterday's spotlight went to @darc_reign's Boa Hancock One Piece battle. The day before: @manyakfunks' Behind Every Cage. The daily spotlight keeps rolling: one collaborator, one story, every day.

Catch the whole family at NYCC, Booth 1771, October 8–11 — Day 3 is today.
